Revelation 13:16He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, 17so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.
it's hard not to rely on yourself for your success, at times. it's the economy of the world isn't it? the ones with the better lives are the ones who are smartest, strongest. survival of the fittest. i have fallen again into that trap, to say the least, and Jesus in His mercy, will save me like He always does. : )
i like the other interpretation of the verse above: in these last days, the accuser stands to persuade the people that the only way they can succeed in this (already fallen) world is through the sheer strength/intellect (right hand/forehead) of the individual. and through this, satan is able to disqualify the people from receiving their inheritance--when in fact, Jesus has already purchased for us the right to reign in life. and what happens when things don't go your way, in spite of your efforts? you question. you question God and His intentions for you.
but God sees not as man sees. and God has walked into all my tomorrows. who am i that You might die for me? yet You did : ) and still, it pleased You to crush Jesus so that i might receive Your free favors. You promise me a future and a hope, with plans not to harm but to prosper.
thank You.
