"I don't have time to sit around thinking about all the people who don't like me. I realize that every day is a gift from God, and my time is too valuable to waste it trying to please everybody. No, I've accepted the fact that not everybody is going to like me and not everybody is going to understand me. You don't have to try to explain yourself. Don't spend time trying to win over your critics; just run your own race."

"Friend, your destiny is not determined by your critics. God has the final say. Quit listening to what the naysayers are telling you and stop living to please people. Shake that off and keep pressing forward in life."
- Excerpts from Become a Better You by Joel Osteen
this part of the book on forming better habits really spoke to me past week. identify my habits that I should not have and replace them with better ones. :) this part on handling criticism brought to mind the story of David when he fulfilled his calling to defeat Goliath. Everyone was telling him why he could not. He was showing everyone why God could. For nothing is impossible for God. Even his brother, his closest kin, came up to him and told him why he shouldn't have shown up at the battle, even as the whole of Israel was cowering in fear. It was at that point when David turned away from his naysayers. The rest, was history.
My destiny is with God. and He has the final say. and He says that it is good. For if even His Son He did not withhold, then what else would He withhold to a now righteous, blood-washed, sanctified people?
For the path of the righteous shines ever brighter. amen.

i am sure you have watched america idol? has it ever occurred to you why some of these contestants are so deaf or disillusioned about their 'abilities' despite being corrected?
because they possess an unshakable positive self image either from their beliefs or have lost touch of reality.
if i want to control you, i need you to have a close door mentality. that way, you won't be question by anyone who may critic your beliefs and possibly shed new light or perspective and my authority over you is overturned.
becareful, idol people are like that.
those who are sure are not afraid to be challenged because, they walk in the light for all to see and...question!
hey, I'm not sure what you're trying to get at. Especially that part about control.
Of course I'm not saying that we should handle criticism by shutting out all criticism, even the good ones. Please, take things in general. :)
and yea, feel free to challenge. Again, I'm entitled to my opinion as you are.
thanks for the comment though.
