:P~~~

Kai, Jin, Bobbs, whoever... Wait for me!

a break...

finally.. a break, from studying. 2 papers down, 2 more to go. (hmm 3 more actually, I keep missing out the econs paper.)

what a term. indeed. so much, in so short a time. it's nice being alone once in a while, alone yet not lonely, but complete. =) I've so much more to find out about the grace of God, just very thankful for all the blessings, even though I often forget that well, I stand on victory ground, I pray that I am reminded of that always.

Expectations. Grades. =) All too personal to me, and it got to me for the most of the term. Work from rest, I must. =) and the belief that all things will work for the good. It will. Radical expectations, from the overflow. =) I shall stand still, ... and see.

Keep going people..! New York beckons! and a whole new term awaits.

Love ya guys.

=) check this out.

The Butterfly Effect

"The flapping of a single butterfly's wing today produces a tiny change in the state of the atmosphere. Over a period of time, what the atmosphere actually does diverges from what it would have done. So, in a month's time, a tornado that would have devastated the Indonesian coast doesn't happen. Or maybe one that wasn't going to happen, does. "

baits winebar #2

well, and here I am blogging...
=) The aftermath of a great get-together yesterday. Happy birthday Rayn~!

A whole bunch of us went over to Rayn's room last night to celebrate his 21st. And guess what, he was already intoxicated when we went there. hahaha... what with 'da'-ing the vodka orange with the 2 girls huh rayn~ hahaha.=) and it was hilarious.

Ppl from the floors above and below him were crammed in his room, freaking random. and he didn't really know all of them. hahaha. well, what can I say, your roommate definitely makes good drinks. (yeah, I had one too.) Problem was, I had a beer and half a shot of a B-51 (http://www.drinksmixer.com/drink984.html) at my place before going over. Haha not really a problem actually. Felt really good. :P Oh well.. it must have been thoughts of the upcoming finals. and my last programming project for the term. Ugh. managed to fix some of the bugs today=)

Well, we so we had a lot of fun. After eating the cake (nice cake Aaron!) we headed out into the blistering cold to play with snow. Now THAT, was fun. hahaha... we were just mad, I wish you guys could be there too haha. We were tao-pokking each other in the snow, shouting, screaming, letting loose, throwing snow into each other's faces. Haha it was SO COLD. and we played for pretty long, and we got pretty tired, and wet. =) haha... but it was fun. things we could never do back home. We sledded (correct val?) down the bursley slope on dinner trays 'koped' from our dining hall. Sweet.

The Xiaolongbao-ers then trooped over to my place and we had a mini-winebar session with shots of B-51 going around. One shot per person of course, and we had pizza and we basically just chatted the night away. =) till about 5...(or issit 6am). Thanks guys. I guess it's moments like these we remember the most, that we take away. Oh man, winter's finally arrived.=) and it's not the coldest yet!
The stayover.

Zouk outreach
Saturday's ZoukOut will see a bigger platform - a dedicated stage - for homegrown bands to strut their stuff
By Sujin Thomas
Music Reporter

EXPECT a different vibe when the fifth ZoukOut kicks off on Saturday.

Last year saw a 15,000-strong turnout at ZoukOut (above). This year's $1.2 million hopes to attract as many people.

The annual electronic music festival, to be held at Sentosa's Siloso Beach, has new attractions to pump up the beat.

This year's $1.2-million party organised by Singapore's premier dance club Zouk will showcase art and visual installations by local and international artistes.

And besides the usual three party arenas - Main, Velvet Underground and Mambo Jambo/Hip-Hop - there will be a dedicated stage for homegrown bands for the first time.

'ZoukOut should appeal to everyone, and judging by the current nightlife and music trends, local bands are thriving,' says Zouk's marketing manager, Ms Tracy Phillips.

This is not the first time homegrown bands are playing at ZoukOut though.

A handful of them opened for DJ sets in 2000, when ZoukOut made its debut.

Now, Ms Phillips says: 'The bands deserve a bigger platform.'

Five bands - Electrico, Ronin, Tiramisu, Slowjaxx Does Dallas and Concave Scream - will perform a 45-minute set each this year.

French house bigwig Martin Solveig (above) and German techno wizard Sven Vath (below) are set to rock the crowd.

Some of their songs have been getting radio airplay and climbing the local radio charts.

Ms Phillips says: 'We wanted bands with a lot of presence and a strong image. Basically, bands that have been working hard to establish themselves.'

The move to devote a stage to local bands is naturally good news to the indie music scene here.

Concave Scream's guitarist Pann Lim, 32, says: 'It's great that the organisers have included this genre of music. How often do local bands get a crowd like this to play to?

'This is a chance for the bands to showcase what they have not only to Singaporeans, but also to foreigners.'

This year's ZoukOut hopes to attract 15,000 people, of whom 5,000 are expected to come from abroad.

Regional visitors made up nearly 30 per cent of the 15,000-strong crowd at last year's festival - a 10 per cent jump from the previous year.

Many had come on tour packages organised jointly by budget airline Valuair and Zouk.

Zouk spent about $180,000 to market these packages, which were offered in Thailand, Hong Kong and Indonesia.

This year, the number of party-goers from the region looks set to swell as Zouk forked out $350,000 to advertise the event and stage contests and pre-ZoukOut parties at clubs in various neighbouring countries.

The biggest turnout is likely to come from Jakarta, as the festival is said to be popular with affluent clubbers there.

Others will fly in from Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and the Philippines - all through Zouk's tie-ups with travel agents in these countries and with other avenues such as TV and magazines.

The main draw of the festival this year remains big-name DJs, including renowned spinmeisters like American house music master Little Louie Vega, German techno wizard Sven Vath, Dutch trance guru Armin Van Buuren and French house bigwig Martin Solveig.

They have all played sets at Zouk club in Jiak Kim Street before, and their ability to 'deliver and rock the crowd' make them ideal choices, says Ms Phillips.

'These names are currently the biggest in dance music. For a mega event such as this, we need mega stars,' she adds.

And if DJs and live bands are not enough to keep you entertained, works of visual artists like Germany's Lichtfront VJs and homegrown art collective KYTV might do the trick.

Art installations by local graphic designers Phunk Studio and architects Fuur will also be showcased.

Says Ms Phillips: 'ZoukOut is constantly evolving. As a 12-hour event, we want it to entertain the crowd fully, engaging them on as many levels as possible.'

Advertising executive Angeline Seow, who will be at the festival, welcomes the refreshing additions.

'It's becoming more like an international festival that you might find in countries like Australia and the United States,' says the 26-year-old, who studied at the University of Melbourne in Australia.

'It's not just about music. Now it's a showcase of pop culture, too.'

  • ZoukOut 2005 will be held on Saturday at Siloso Beach, Sentosa, from 8pm till 8am. Tickets at $38 will be on sale until tomorrow from Sistic (tel: 6348-5555 or www.sistic.com.sg). Tickets at the door are at $48. For more information, call 6738-2988 or visit www.zoukout.com

Ok guys, I'm sorry.. =] sorry Limz.. haha i'm really *paiseh* *big grIN* ...

yup... after 4 bloody sleepless nights of programming, a night of rushing chem CACH homework, math online homework as well as math written homework #10, I'm .. -sad to say- that there's more, next week. Test on Tuesday, and a whole host of homeworks to hand up .. hahaha.. but for now, I'm loving it. FINALLY got my program to work perfectly.. it's a SUDOKU program. I can send it to anyone who wants it. Just ask me. ;)

Oh well, it's been great thus far... it's getting really really really snowy here. =] Just back from TK Wu. and it's snowing very heavily.

One morning... after a night of snow.. I saw...

Yep. Just to recap the major events that happened the past few weeks. Of course there was Round 2 of the midterms, which went okay. And of course, how can I forget our trip to toronto! =) Where we had last minute, expensive car rentals (Martin and Aaron) ... driving in the snow. Almost crashing into the vehicle in front of me along Fuller Road because of the snow and somehow lousy brakes... (now that was dangerous... I swerved the car to the left to avoid the car in front after the brakes somehow failed.. and thank God no car was on the left..!) And then finally reaching Baits in a white rented Chevrolet Malibu, and setting off soon after.
    Setting off...
    Our Malibu
    The folks in Car #3
    Making plans...

Driving on the freeways was somewhat interesting for the fact that they were covered in snow half the time and speeds were reduced to a 20-30 mph crawl. Even at that speed I was having trouble keeping the car traveling straight on the roads. Imagine that man.. =] The car was drifting right and left because of the snow and ice on the roads..and the lane markings were virtually invisible. There was one point where all 3 Malibus were driving through a blizzard, and we could only see the backlights of the car in front of us. It was awesome. (well, in the sense that it was a new experience! =) ) Cool.

Toronto was... cold. =) But really really nice DIM SUM!=]

We reached 'College Hostel' at 3am in the morning. It was hilarious la, the owner left a note for Martin(who made the reservation) to collect the keys from the convenience store opposite. Talk about 'chad chad'. Well, anyhow, out of the 15 (3 cars, 5 each), Chin, Aaron, Ser and Esther went to stay with Aaron's friend; while the rest squeezed into the 6-man dorm .haha the funny thing was we didnt know how to switch the heater on. And Sim forgot to close the windows so we froze our asses off inside the dorm room. Wah, sick man. And we didnt have bedsheets.

Well, as you guys would know it, we had Dim Sum for two consecutive mornings.. and on day 1, we headed to Pacific Mall and shopped and ended up singing 4 hours of karaoke!=) haha I didnt know it'd be this fun. haha.. and we drove through a blizzard again...

Day 2 was bright and sunny. Thank God! We had a safe, quick drive to Niagara to catch the falls. and it was beautiful. Double rainbows go with waterfalls. Definitely. =]

*be back to update later. DOTA beckons!* :P

Ok so I was saying, =) the Niagara falls were beautiful. =) and I believe that God made that day perfectly sunny for us! *griN*... what a miracle. It was such an awesome sight. And the rainbows... were just there to remind us that God will never again judge the earth, cos of the passion at the cross. *okok*

There you go, the magnificent rainbow.

Yep. So that was it. The Falls. We went back onto the freeways, and headed back to our hostel. Oh I forgot to mention that the 11 of us had 2 rooms by the next morning and we figured out how to use the heater, so sleep was comfortable the night before =) and we had bedsheets and pillowcases. So pimples would hopefully not be a problem.. (hmm but the damage had already been done, I suppose).

Anywayz, we had a nice dinner at Hello Saigon! a vietnamese store. Shiok stuff. SHIOK. and we had a nice concluding chillout session at Hard Rock, Toronto. Ordered 'Tropical Rock' this shiok pineapple cocktail and left with a souvenir Hard Rock Toronto glass. =)

Oh but before dinner at Saigon, we took a trip up the CN Tower. Whoa. hahaha... was quite cool. Stood on this 'glass floor' thingey, which was quite something. =) haha...

The next day, we had quite a swift and safe journey on the freeways... haha and we seized the opportunity for a snowball fight when Val decided she had 'urgent business' to attend to. and we stopped at a 'rest stop'. Haha.. we stopped by the duty-free shop before this and wow.. the bottles of liquor were huge.

Bought Frangelico (Limz!), Kahlua and Bailey's. Yup and I was saying, the snowball fight was extremely fun haha.. and funny too. haha we ended up making a 'snowman' hahaha... looking kinda distorted though, with a more defined anatomy than the typical snowperson. (oops) hahah.. see if you can spot it. =) Anyhow, we had a great time sliming each other with the snow and all that. =) So fun. Thanks Val. =) hahaha...
    Frosty the snowman! =)

Well I guess that summed up my entire Toronto experience. =) Full of mad fun and crazy spontaneous behavior. It was so amazingly blessed! =) and now it's back to studying and the last round of midterms, before the finals. =)
